Changelog
What changed. And when.
Every version of the Margin extension that has reached the Chrome Web Store, newest first. The longer story, with the wrong turns, is in the build log.
Last updated · 26 October 2026
Version 2.8.1
Margin Study. Exams get a home.
- New: Margin Study, a page of its own, opened from the popup or from Settings. Exams, topics, and where the next block goes.
- Add an exam and tick the topics it covers. Margin gives a rough estimate of how ready you are, from your homework scores and the checks you record. The estimate is free and is worked out in your browser.
- A small snail keeps you company on the page. You can name it in Settings, under Margin Study, and the name stays in your browser.
- A one-time card in the popup explains Margin Study's sync, with a link to the privacy policy.
Version 2.7.0
Groundwork. Mostly out of sight.
- The groundwork for Circles, shipped switched off.
- A one-time card in the popup points to the privacy policy's new section on Circles.
Version 2.6.0
Fewer duplicates. Fewer dead ends.
- If you read both Canvas and your Canvas calendar feed, an assignment no longer shows up twice. The course code in brackets at the end of a feed's titles now becomes the course name.
- New in Settings, under Sync & privacy: Scan for duplicates. It lists any assignment that appears twice in your Todoist. It only reads; nothing is closed or changed.
- When you're signed out, “See Margin Pass” in the side panel and “See the whole semester” in the preview open Settings, under Margin Pass, instead of this website.
- When a Margin Pass starts and Canvas is one of your sources, Whole-semester foresight turns itself on. If you turn it off, it stays off for that Pass.
- A one-time card in the popup says the privacy policy changed, with a link to it.
Version 2.5.3
Clearer errors. A clearer name.
- When you're signed out of Canvas at a school with its own sign-in page, Margin now says to open Canvas and log in, instead of reporting a general sync failure.
- If you decline Chrome's permission prompt while adding Canvas or a calendar, the message now says how to try again.
- The extension took its current name: Margin | Canvas Assignment Planner + Todoist.
Version 2.5.2
On the Chrome Web Store. Finally.
- The first public version. It reads your upcoming Canvas assignments and your calendar feeds, and puts them in your Todoist.
- Before this, Margin was a small private beta. The build log has that part.
How this list works
A version appears here once the Chrome Web Store has published it, dated the day it went live. A version built but replaced before it went out, like 2.8.0, is left off.
Changes to how Margin handles your data are in the privacy policy. Something broken, or something you wish it did: write to us.
